What do you do when you are waiting for your clay masterpieces to fire in the kiln? Art Challenge Time!
Students were given 2 classes to complete the challenge – pitting one grade 6 class against the other in true Roman fashion.
During class one, students chose one square to replicate (and enlarge) using (only) oil pastels and their astute observational skills. They were encouraged to re-create the square (which basically was reduced to abstract lines, shapes and colours) as close to exact as possible.
During class two, students then had to work together to assemble the coloured pieces to try to discover the original artist’s work.
and VOILA! The finished collaborative masterpieces!
