Using our black and white photos of our hands and our observational sketches, Grade 8 art students began to bring their own ‘Natural Forms’ to life. We decided to work in two different mediums. First, we used packing tape (and a partner we could trust) to create a realistic base of our hands (or feet).
We then used one sculpture base as a traditional tape sculpture – covering it warm/cool ombre of tissue paper. Stay tuned with what we are going to use it for!
The second base we fortified by filling the form with newspaper and then covering it with plaster. As the plaster dried, students were encouraged to carve hand details – going for a realistic hand effect.
