  1. 5B and 2D: New Book Buddies

    August 28, 2013 by ahomi1

This afternoon, grade 5 students and grade 2 students paired up and shared their love for literacy. Students met their buddies for the first time today and got to know one another, then shared their interests and passions through reading books to one another. Both classes are very excited for what’s to come this year!

  2. What’s in the Sack?

    August 27, 2013 by ahomi1

After reading a story by Mem Fox, Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge and a poem by Shel Silverstein, “What’s in the Sack?”, students discussed the use of objects to help spark memories and ideas for personal narrative stories. Over the weekend, students prepared their own sacks with 3 or 4 items that represent memories and personal experiences in their lives. They then used these objects to write their first personal narrative.

    August 27, 2013 by ahomi1

Last Friday, students shared a variety of original creations that exhibited their understanding of and interpretation of a digital citizen a SIS. This will lead into our future discussions and learning of digital citizenship throughout the year.

  7. Welcome New Grade 5 Students and Families!

    August 14, 2013 by ahomi1

Dear Grade 5 Students and Parents,

Unfortunately, we are unable to meet this evening due to the weather; however, we will be sure to have a wonderful school year that kicks off tomorrow!  There are a couple of things that I was going to share with you this evening regarding items to bring to school this week.

Please bring a water bottle and umbrella.  If possible, an extra water bottle and umbrella that you can leave at school in case you forget one or it starts raining during the school day would be very helpful.  Make sure they are labeled with your name and 5B.

Also, please bring a healthy snack (muffin, fruit, yogurt, granola bar, cheese…) to help you sustain your energy throughout the morning on Thursday.  We will be doing some active team building activities tomorrow afternoon, so please wear or bring tennis shoes.

Tomorrow, I will send home general information, a questionnaire, and the new parent handbook.  I look forward to meeting all of you!

    Ms. Hominski
