School Holidays

Friday, September 21 and Monday, September 24 – No School For Students – SIS will be closed on Friday to allow the teachers to attend a professional development workshop. SIS is closed on Monday for the Mid-Autumn Festival Holiday. Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 25.

Monday, October 1 to Friday, October 5 – No School For Students – SIS will be closed for the National Day Holiday. Classes will resume on Monday, October 8.

SIS Parent Identification (ID) Cards

Requests for Parent ID cards can be made via our self-service ID card website. Complete the online form and upload a passport-type photo. Please ensure that the photo is clear, well lit and shows the individual’s face and shoulders. Photos shot with a smartphone are fine. The school will supply two parent ID cards–one for mother and one for father. Parents do not need a new ID card each school year. Cards can be picked up at the Bayside front desk. Normal processing time for ID cards is two working days but as we are currently creating many cards for new families we will need three extra days. Cards can be picked up at the Bayside front desk five days after you submit your application.

Week Without Walls – October 22-26

Plans are well underway for our Secondary School Week Without Walls (WWW) taking place on the week of October 23-27. WWW is an annual event that is part of a whole school program linked to the Upper Primary School School Without Walls (SWW). These experiences give SIS students opportunities to participate in experiential learning focused on developing our Expected Student Learning Results (ESLRs) – Communicators, Independent Learners, Collaborators, Complex Thinkers and Global Citizens. Shekou International School works in conjunction with DragonFly to establish safe, exciting and challenging courses for all our WWW trips.  Students will travel in grade level groups to various destinations within China, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.  More information about each grade level trip will be sent home next week.

SIS Art Tote Bags

Some art works from our IB DP Art cohort of 2018-19 translated so well into graphic prints that we just had to use them for our new SIS Art Totes! Each print was designed by an SIS Art student, shows our SIS logo and has a positive message for our SIS community. Our IB Art Teacher, Ms. Amy Atkinson, is now taking orders. See tote bag information attachment for more information and instructions on how to orders yours! Please place your orders before Wednesday, September 26.
