To celebrate the moon festival, the happy dancing tigers had a chance to visit one of our tiger friends’ house to make mooncakes and Mantou (steamed buns) with his family members. We had some volunteer parents to come with us together. Knead the dough, pat it, and press it. The mooncakes are the round shape to represent the moon shape. It was an opportunity for the happy tigers to experience the Chinese traditions and grow as global citizens.
The happy dancing tigers are interested in singing a new song, “I like to eat, eat, eat apples and bananas”. We decided to make apple banana salad on Friday.
Peeling off the bananas,
Cutting the apple pieces,
Adding the yogurt on the top,
Mixing and then tasting,
The tigers made different comments on the salad. ” I like bananas and apples.” “I like apples.” “I like bananas with yogurt.” “I only like the yogurt.”
We’re learning to recognize different feelings and start to label our own feelings every day, e.g., happy, sad, sleepy, scared and angry.

We have been in school for two weeks. It’s a new challenge to most of us as we’re in a full-day program now. We play in school, we have lunch in school, we’re active in school and we also get messy in school. The most important part is, we’re having fun in school because we’re happy dancing tigers!!! 🙂
- Food coloring
- Vegetable Oil
- Put water in several cups and add food coloring to the water. Then stir to combine.
- Place a dropper in each colored glass of water.
- Fill a cup about half way with oil.
While enjoying this science exploration little giraffe friends explored how oil and water do not mix together. it is a great start to simply explore the two liquids and see how they behave when mixed together.
