Grade 1 – animal and biomimicry research!

First grade have been researching as part of their science unit. I was able to collaborate and co-teach with the first grade teachers to guide students in building  understanding about what effective on-line resources might look like and how to use their features.

First graders used a trusted animal database site called pebbleGo and a site called BrainPOPjr to learn more about animals, as well as build their non-fiction reading skills (on-line).

Biomimicry is one of the concepts being covered in this research unit. Be sure to ask your first grader for examples of biomimicry in nature. Here is a link for adults on this concept.
