Mr. Matthew Johnson has been an educator for seventeen years in the United States, Ecuador, Thailand, Myanmar, South Korea, and China. Originally from northern California, he attended the University of Notre Dame as both an undergraduate and graduate student. He holds master’s degrees in both Elementary Education and Educational Leadership. Recently, Mr. Johnson began a doctoral program in educational leadership, curriculum, and instruction.
As an educator, he is passionate about creating positive dialogue with all school stakeholders, establishing a safe and caring learning environment, using best practice and innovation to support and initiate positive change, and supporting all students in becoming active, life-long learners.
Mr. Johnson has been an active participant in sports from a young age, most notably with soccer. Throughout high school, Mr. Johnson played with the United States National Youth Soccer Team and then went on to play with the University of Notre Dame Men’s Soccer Team. Married to Sophia Johnson, a first grade teacher at SIS, they enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing with their puppy, traveling, golf, and scuba diving.
