Straddle Back… OH YEAH.

January 22, 2015 marks a big day for Nikita and Citlali! The move is tough, needing core strength, arm strength, back flexibility and control… and here they are, our two seniors flipping over all on their own! With #hillaryismyhero in the middle, these ladies are lookin’ good! Next goal: dancer’s footlock and flipping into the “X”!

Wow, Nikita, I am impressed! This move has given me so much trouble and frustration. In fact, I still can’t get it! What helped you to finally flip? What secret advice can you give me?

Thanks! Haha — it frustrated me sooo much too. There are videos of me struggling to flip that are very painful to watch :P… I was told that I was pulling myself up before pushing on the silks above my head, which made it a lot harder to flip myself over since I was using my own muscle instead of letting the tightness of the silk pushing me over. I took a video of Ms. Cho demonstrating it and watched it over and over again. I then realized it’s simply about keeping your legs straight and perpendicular to your body, and pushing on the silks above your head with your palms. It also helped to swing my legs up a bit to start it off. 🙂 I hope that made sense! Good luck!!!

It made sense to me! Maybe you can explain it to Miss Qavi who is starting to get frustrated with her lack of flipping!
