So many amazing things are happening at #SISrocks!
Earth week is here! While everyday should be Earth day, the official 2019 Earth day was Monday, April 22. Primary school will be celebrating with a series of events including Earth Week bingo, a PSA sponsored scavenger hunt, and much more.
Earth Week Bingo Upper Primary
A new podcast is starting up at the Upper Primary campus. Mr. Sheppard & Mrs. Banner will be reading all student entries to decide one student from each class to record on the podcast. Entries are due by Friday, April 26.
Love movies? We all do! You can attend the SIS film festival Thursday or Friday, April 25 or 26. Please get your free tickets at the lobby of Parkside or Bayside before the event.
Last but certainly not least, the grade 5 PYPx exhibition is starting up and the energy on the grade 5 hall has picked up greatly! We are happy to announce the amazing staff that have volunteered to mentor grade 5 groups as they go through this process. Exhibition topics will be determined by May 1. Final groups and mentor pairings will be announced later that week.
We would love to see you at 2 events this week. The first is tomorrow at Level 5 (Parkside building – 5th floor) beginning promptly at 8:15 a.m. Grade 5 teachers and our PYP coordinator will be presenting on our grade 5 PYPx exhibition which will be an ongoing project throughout this last unit of inquiry. If you have any questions or would like to learn more information about what to expect, please come out. We hope to see you there.
Also this week, we will be having a publishing party in which you can read your student’s revised and finalized persuasive text and memoir. Students even read aloud their memoirs using Flipgrid and wish to share this with you. How often do you get to hear published authors read aloud their own work??? If able, grade 5 teachers would love to see you at this event which will be held in our classrooms beginning at 2:15pm. Please bring a technology device (such as a phone) with a QR code scanner on it so that you can view / listen to the read alouds. Earbuds / headphones are also encouraged.
