Some of the children have noticed and have been curious about the new ID cards their teachers and parents have been wearing to school. We had some great conversations about the ID cards and why we are wearing them. As the children were so interested, and it being a great way to help build our own classroom identity, this week we decided to see if we could make our own personalized Kangaroo ID cards.
After talking about what we should include in our IDs and what they should look like, we have decided to include a picture of a kangaroo, the word ‘kangaroo’, a picture of the owner of the ID, and their name. We worked together to draw a kangaroo during circle time, and students helped each other take their ID photos using our iPad. Then they began constructing their lanyards, and assembling their IDs.
The rest of the PreK 1 classes will be making their own versions too. Next week we will all get together for a PreK 1 ID game day. We’re also wondering how else we might be able to use our new cards.
Here’s a quick video of some of the things we got up to this week
