Week 26 @PreK1a, Brave Bears – What happened during Book Week?

Book Week kicked off with being cozy…….as cozy as your just at home with your pajamas (PJs). 🙂

…and the Brave Bears even experienced to read in an unusual place while they were in their PJs. Reading in Unusual Places was also an opportunity for the Brave Bears to apply what they know about safety – make sure that there is no car when crossing the road.

Dropped Everything and Read (DEAR) happened on Tuesday. The Brave Bears either read alone, shared-reading or enjoying Readers time a group of friends.

Teacher Readers happily read to the Brave Bears on Wednesday. They had four Teacher Readers in a day!

Ms.  Kasey also came to read to the class on a different day.

A Parent Reader came on Thursday. During the story time, the Brave Bears confidently answered questions related to the story and even started to make predictions about what will happen next.

Books Come Alive and Book Character Dress-Up happened on Friday. The Brave Bears proudly came to the school showing their “special dress” for the day. Some of them even took their character seriously. 🙂

Here are short clips of the Brave Bears Eric Carle’s Books Come Alive experiences.

In addition, the Brave Bears also decorated their door inspired by one of Eric Carle’s story, The Tiny Seed. Just like the Tiny Seed, the Brave Bears are blooming and growing into strong learners.

Painting the flower petals with loose parts, such as Lego, Yakult bottles, and fork.

Spray paint for the background.

Finally putting the flower together.

Next week, the Brave Bears will continue to learn about how and what makes a good picture. They will help in creating criteria that they can use to assess a good picture. Then, the Brave Bears will explore ways how to take pictures.

Splendid China Trip Learning Experiences

Goals of the trip: It will raise the awareness of the children of the Chinese Culture through the Park’s many activities and performances. Children will have the opportunities to see the miniature of China’s most popular attractions, which will also enhance children’s understanding of the ongoing school-wide China Week activities.

The Brave Bears Splendid China’s exploration started with a dance show. Also, they have the opportunity to join the dance. It was great to see the Brave Bears showing their dance moves.

Then, they went off to explore the miniature famous attractions/villages of China.

The Brave Bears even went on a scavenger hunt.

In addition, the Brave Bears rode a train to see more of Splendid China.

…and of course, the Brave Bears’ class didn’t leave Splendid China without a group picture. 🙂

Overall, the trip was fun and a great first-hand learning experience where children gain knowledge along-side their friends or together.

Week 16 @PreK1a, Brave Bears – The Joy of Winter

Winter is the time of the year where some part of the world starts snowing, and where cheers are heard, such as concerts. Also, this time of the year for sharing and for the families to get together. Of course, the Brave Bears don’t want to miss these experiences. So….

On Monday, the Brave Bears made a snowman with their MS Buddies. Prior to making the snowman, they had mini-lesson on how to make a snowman (they learned how to make circles from clay) and felt an ice to experience the snow feel.

On Tuesday, some of the Brave Bears helped in making the PreK1 Winter concert banner.

On Wednesday, the Brave Bears together with the other PreK1 classes had their final rehearsal for the Winter concert.

On Thursday, the Brave Bears dressed nicely and proudly performed at Pre1 Winter Concert. And shared a light snack with all the PreK1 families after.

…and on Friday, the Brave Bears visited Santa and got a present from him.
