As we wrapped up our “How We Express Ourselves” unit focusing on the central idea, “being aware of our historical perspectives and biases may lead us to take responsible action,” students worked on analyzing poetry, one of the most expressive forms of literature. Students reflected on points learned in class, along with their own inferences from the poem, themes that can be based on their poem of choice, and practiced reading aloud with fluency / expression.
