About Mr. D
My name is Peter Damroth. I was born on Long Island, New York; but I did not inherit that accent. I have been living in North Carolina the majority of my life; though I don’t believe I have the southern accent either. After graduating from Barton College in Wilson, NC with my teaching license, I went back to my alma mater to attain my master’s. I have been a teacher the past eight years and am ready to start my ninth fun-filled year. I absolutely love to travel and am ready to continue that in a new continent. I have been privileged to visit Alaska, Canada, Italy, and the Baltic Sea countries including Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Russia, Finland, and Sweden. I love experiencing new cultures and meeting new people. I hope to do that in abundance while in China. Besides traveling, I also enjoy reading, art, running, and teaching of course.
I am overjoyed to hear that SIS will be an IB PYP candidate school. I was with my last school the entire candidacy phase and was overjoyed when we were authorized as an IB World School. I believe wholeheartedly in the mission of the PYP curriculum as it encompasses international mindedness and instilling transdisciplinary skills. I’m ready to start the process anew at such an incredible place as Shekou International School.
I’m simply ecstatic to start this next adventure at SIS.
