May Coffee Morning

This is the time of year when our international school community is filled with events, transitions, and a wide range of emotional experiences. There are families and staff leaving our community for their home countries or other expat assignments, and there are those who are staying, all of which experience various positive and negative emotions.  Adjusting back to your “home” environment, or needing to shape yourself around another international community can be both exciting and daunting, with the added component of changing friendships and relationships. Not to be forgotten, are those in our school community who are staying, coping with the loss of close friends who have moved on while learning to making new friends.

We invite the parents of SIS to join us for the next PSA Coffee Morning on Wednesday, May 27th in the Gecko Theater for a conversation about transition for the families who are moving on to their next assignment and those that are staying in our SIS community.  Dr. Rachael Knudsen, Clinical Psychologist for SIS, will discuss this transition experience, and will give some ideas and strategies on how to manage emotions and navigate through these inevitable changes in our transient international community. Parents may arrive at
8:00am for coffee and tea. The presentation will begin at 8:30am.
