Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students engaged in activities related to Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. This story presents an opportunity to have an age-appropriate conversation about the inherent value of forests and the importance of sustainable management. We read the story, and then had a discussion about the message within the story, as well as what we can do to protect the health and productivity of our forests now and for the future.
This helped our younger students see the importance of conservation of our world’s forests, bodies of water, animals, and other resources. This also helped them to examine the importance of sustainable management of natural resources
