Happy Winter Break!

I just wanted to take this time to wish everyone a Happy, Healthy, and Humbled Winter Break. Many of us travel extensively during this time period, and I hope we all are able to stay safe during our various trips.

I take this opportunity to thank all of my colleagues and our families in blessing my life with your presence. My eyes are opened further each and every day by discussions and experiences with you all, and I am forever grateful.

Happy Holidays and Travels!

Inclusion and Giving Compliments

Although we are not obligated to be BEST friends with everyone (we don’t have room in our hearts or schedules for that!), we do need to learn to be KIND to everyone.

We are using “Freckleface Strawberry” and “The Ugly Duckling” to discuss unique differences and treating others with respect. We talk about:

·      What makes us special?

·      Is everyone in this room the same?

·      What are our differences?

  • Talk about a place where you feel “accepted.”
  • In The Ugly Duckling, the duckling gets very sad when people make fun of him for being different. What are ways you can make somebody feel better if they are feeling sad or left out?

We then work together to brainstorm ways we can continue to include others in our school and community lives!
