Here’s a look at what’s happening for the Month of April and May:
READING-continuing with our Historical Fiction and finished our read aloud of Rosa Parks. (The woman who stood up to racism and segregation in the 1950s) . Lots of interesting and enlightening discussions on the Montgomery Bus Boycott and Civil Rights Movement. Now, starting a new read aloud fiction book called “Hatchet” by Gary Paulson. Also, we will be starting Book Clubs, (4 groups with 5 students in each).

UOI -We are wrapping up our Unit 4, “How We Express Ourselves” this week and the Central Idea: How living thing process and respond to information in different ways for survival. Students created a media book on their app “Book Creator” (See Rubric below) and Grade 4 are inviting parents to view and read their published works.
Our new Unit 5, “How We Organize Ourselves” and the Central Idea: ECONOMIES rely on RESOURCES and CHOICES to sustain SOCIETIES.
WRITING- we are focusing on Persuasive (Opinionated) Writing for our Literary Essays. We will continue learning how to use research, practice note-taking skills and other educational tools to write our essays as well as use Literary Analysis. (See Rubric below).
MATH- We are continuing with our Module 5: Fractions/Topic A: Decomposition and Fraction Equivalent (see Math Standards below). Soon, to start our Module 6: Addition/Multiplication on Volume and Area.
