Happy New Year of the Pig and welcome back! I hope everyone had a fantastic break!
Here’s what we are working on:
In reading and writing, we are continuing with our argument texts. In reading, the students are reading texts to find facts to support their sides of the debate. In writing, they are finishing up their persuasive essays on whether chocolate milk should be served in school.
In science, we are looking at how organisms get energy by looking at food chains. We are then looking at how disruptions affect these food chains. We are also finishing our plant experiment to see what plants need most to survive.
In math, we finished up our adding and subtracting fractions unit before break. I will be sending home that test to be signed this week. This means we are starting a new unit–multiplying and dividing fractions! Please read this newsletter carefully to see how you can best help your child during this unit. Unit 5 Newsletter
Hong Kong Overnight Field Trip
If you haven’t registered your child for the March 6-8 Hong Kong field trip, please do so today. Here is the information on it. Remember, the student ID number is the first part of their school email address (Example: 26ab01).
The children will be coming home with the packing list, student conduct contract, and medical information sheet. Please fill out the contract and medical information sheet as soon as possible.
We will be having a parent information meeting about the field trip next week. I am meeting with the Dragonfly people on Wednesday to decide on this date. I will pass it to you as soon as I have it confirmed.
