Hello SIS Community!
My name is Susan Kim and this is my sixth year here at SIS! For the past five years, I have been a fourth grade teacher, but am excited to join the fifth grade team this year! I am Korean-American and originally hail from Philadelphia, the city that has become synonymous with the Declaration of Independence, cheesesteaks, and Rocky! I graduated with a BA in English from Temple University and received my Master’s degree in Childhood Education (1-6) from Hunter College. Before arriving in China, my husband and I previously taught for three years in Caracas, Venezuela. Prior to that, we taught in Brooklyn, New York in the United States. I enjoy reading, traveling, yoga, and spending time with my family.
I will be filling a double role as both an SIS teacher and parent this year. Penny will be in Pre-K1 and Lucy will be starting in Nursery. I consider myself a lifelong learner and am continually studying to improve and refine my practice as a teacher. I look forward to meeting you and your children. I know that this is going to be a great year!
