Sight Words

Did you know that 50% of all texts are made up of the same 100 words?!

The most frequently used words in the English language are known as “sight words.”  Because they are used so much, it’s important for readers to be able to recognize them on sight – hence the term “sight words.”

One of the most effective tools for children learning to read is to develop a large sight word repertoire. In grade one, your child will learn to recognize, read, and eventually spell these high-frequency sight words.

Five new sight words will be taught per week.
