In grade two, students are adding visual vocabulary and strengthening their understanding of the foundational elements of art and begin to apply more art principles to their work.

~Units of Study~

Line: We broke 2nd Grade up into 4 types of landscapes to study horizon lines, foreground, middle ground & background, as well as perspective and what distance does to the appearance of size.

Step 1: practice drawing landscapes, Step 2: choose a favorite and reproduce it onto a small “thumbnail” to focus on most important lines and make color choices for each layer.

Step 3: Draw onto watercolor paper and cut apart! Step 4: paint each layer according to our analogous color plans. Finally Step 5: re-assemble the paintings!
